El proyecto expositivo Alas y raíces: Ada Balcácer es una propuesta del Centro León que se inscribe en su programa sobre Grandes Maestros Consagrados en las Artes Visuales de la República Dominicana. Esta muestra antológica recoge las realizaciones más representativas de Ada Balcácer a lo largo de sesenta años de quehacer artístico, sin perder de vista el compromiso de la artista con la sociedad y su tiempo. Del mismo modo, la exposición difunde los aportes teóricos de esta creadora a las artes visuales del Caribe.
En consonancia con la política institucional de difusión internacional del arte dominicano que ha llevado a cabo el Centro León y con las motivaciones de la propia artista en la actualidad, se concibe que esta exposición cumpla luego un importante itinerario dentro y fuera del país, comenzando por una institución de Estados Unidos, lugar donde reside hoy Ada Balcácer. Esta proyección internacional redundará en la validación, revalorización y expansión del arte dominicano en general, así como su inserción en el mercado global del reconocimiento cultural.
Desde el momento en que aborda la trayectoria de una creadora con casi sesenta años de trabajo ininterrumpido, la exposición Alas y raíces: Ada Balcácer posee un inevitable carácter retrospectivo. Sin embargo, el discurso curatorial no sigue un sentido cronológico pues pretende establecer los vínculos entre las series realizadas por Ada Balcácer y seguir los hilos conductores que han marcado su producción para demostrar que, en su condición de mujer-artista, esta ha desarrollado una propuesta visual intrínsecamente vinculada a su contexto cultural y natural. Todo esto ha permitido que, a través de una obra marcada por la coherencia, la experimentación y la autenticidad, Ada Balcácer, creadora en plena madurez, logre hacer una síntesis que le permite dialogar con el resto de la cultura mundial.
El Centro León, institución cultural dialogante, pone a disposición de sus públicos a través de esta sección web los criterios curatoriales que estructuran el discurso de Alas y raíces: Ada Balcácer y la posibilidad de opinar sobre la exposición antes de que esta sea montada de forma definitiva. Estamos seguros de que sus criterios nos permitirán completar la propuesta y serán un valioso colofón a los más de dos años de investigación desarrollados por un equipo multidisciplinario de la institución, cuyo resultado quedará a la vista de todos a partir del próximo 18 de noviembre.
