RESIDENCIAS MESA8: ARTISTA PERUANO TRABAJA CON POBLADORES DE COLIUMO / CHILE
Con la participación del artista peruano Christians Luna, continúa desde el 17 de septiembre al 17 de octubre de 2011 el Programa de Residencias para Artistas Latinoamericanos MESA8, que se desarrolla en la comuna de Tomé y cuyo centro de operaciones es Casa Poli (Coliumo, región del Bío Bío, Chile).
La agrupación de profesionales de arte y gestores culturales de Concepción, MESA8, ha contemplado en distintas temporadas al año la participación de productores que cuentan ya con un proceso de obra conectado al espacio público, a contextos sociales, grupos culturales y ejes pedagógicos. La idea de cada residencia es que el artista permanezca una temporada en el lugar para trabajar relacionado estrechamente al entorno y la comunidad, desarrollando acciones que además impliquen nexos con la escena artística local.
CHRISTIANS LUNA (1979) se declara “investigador de cosas”; artista visual, curador, poeta, activista, docente de diseño y arte contemporáneo. Vive y trabaja en Lima, Perú. Desde 1998 realiza performances e intervenciones en espacios públicos. Dirige zona 30, espacio de experimentación y residencia, así como Galería Plátano: proyecto de proceso colectivo itinerante donde ironiza sobre la necesidad de la galería de arte. Distinguido en espacios de Europa, tiene sobretodo una nutrida carrera en distintas ciudades y espacios de Perú.
Su trabajo -dice- consiste en la búsqueda de “situaciones” entendidas desde los campos estéticos y las artes relacionales. En proyectos como “Por el humo de la Oroya” (Barranco, 2009), “Olimpiadas limpias” (Ventanillas, 2010) o “Parque Autoarmable” (Lomas de Carabayllo, 2010), ha integrado a artistas con pobladores, niños y comunidades marginadas en general, en acciones colectivas y colaborativas, que recuperan espacios públicos o naturales. Luna tiende a visibilizar “problemáticas sociales reales, con desarrollos creativos simples, con inversión de recursos escuetos y de participación ciudadana conciente”.
“TRUEQUE” es el proyecto que desarrollará durante su residencia en la localidad de Coliumo (comuna de Tomé), poblado de campesinos y pescadores, ubicado a 44 kilómetros al norte de Concepción: “La situación del lugar me sobrecoge sobremanera porque me recuerda lo sucedido al sur del Perú, en los pueblos de Ica, Chincha y Pisco (que sufrieron un terremoto en 2007). De allá recibí una invitación para realizar talleres de pintura, lo que me parecía insuficiente… Pasaron unos años y desarrollé el concepto de ‘parques autoarmables’, proyecto que busca rescatar material de la zona y construir de forma precaria un área para niños, por medio del reciclaje comunal y del trabajo de los pobladores”.
El artista precisa que la experiencia a realizar tiene que ver con eso: “Me interesa a priori ayudar, hacer entender que los habitantes son los únicos que pueden cambiar su paisaje si es que se lo proponen y, de esa manera, poner en jaque a las autoridades para que los ayuden. El trueque es un intercambio, en este caso de información y saberes del pueblo con mis metodologías en trabajos en comunidad. Éstos se fusionarán para generar un producto, un evento, una experiencia, una situación de intercambio que se seguirá generando en procesos de colaboración”.
El proyecto se irá definiendo en terreno, advierte, pero la idea es “reforzar capacidades y aportar modelos pedagógicos que ayuden al desarrollo de la comunidad”. Su estrategia es usar “herramientas básicas de relación, recursos latinoamericanos de procesos de colaboración, como construcciones efímeras, activación de procesos de transformación, interpelación de simbologías sociales y procesos de asimilación”.
MESA8 es una agrupación compuesta por artistas, profesionales de arte y gestores culturales de la región del Bío Bío, Chile, dedicada desde 2008 a la producción de acciones que involucren práctica artística, agentes de arte y a la comunidad. Sus integrantes actuales son: Daniel Cartes, Óscar Concha, Natascha de Cortillas, Leslie Fernández, Carolina Lara, Gerardo López, Carolina Maturana, Cristián Muñoz, David Romero y Carlos Valle.
El Programa de Residencias para Artistas Latinoamericanos es uno de los proyectos prioritarios en este período. Se contextualiza desde una escena de arte tan fecunda como la de Concepción (capital regional), y desde una zona comprendida entre Tomé y Dichato, fuertemente afectada por el terremoto y tsunami del 27 de febrero de 2010; de gran riqueza cultural y potencial turístico, no obstante las carencias económicas y la marginación respecto a las políticas centralistas.
CASA POLI es un Centro Cultural creado por los artistas Eduardo Meisser y Rosemarie Prim, y por los arquitectos Mauricio Pezo y Sofía von Ellrichshausen. Situada en la península de Coliumo, la construcción realizada entre 2004 y 2005 ha sido destacada arquitectónicamente a nivel nacional e internacional. Un programa de residencias para artistas se desarrolló aquí entre 2006 y 2008.
